Description:
Job Overview:
The county of Roscommon is seeking an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney to join our team and finalize our office rebuild. If you are interested in handling Misdemeanor, Traffic, Animal Control, DNR, and other District Court matters with the opportunity for additional responsibility in the future, this may be the position for you!
Responsibilities and Duties:
We are seeking a licensed attorney with courtroom experience. You will be handling your assigned cases from start to finish-arraignment through sentencing, negotiating dispositions, working with victims, and pursuing justice in its many forms. You can plan on appearing in District Court daily for arraignments, twice a week for docket calls, and monthly for jury trials and other hearings. When not in court, you will be reviewing police reports for charging and search warrants for PC from seven state, county, and local law enforcement agencies, working with staff to keep Karpel and files updated while we transition to being paperless, and meeting with victims and witnesses as needed for your cases. Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and we do not have a remote work policy. Prosecutors provide after-hours support to law enforcement per an on-call schedule and issue warrants on the weekends for felony arrests.
Minimum Qualifications:
Law degree from accredited law school and active law license in good standing from the state of Michigan.
