Hybrid / Potentially Fully Remote About Balyeat Law Balyeat Law is a client-focused firm dedicated to providing strong, compassionate advocacy in criminal defense and Dependency and Neglect proceedings. We primarily represent indigent clients through contracts with the Office of Alternate Defense Counsel and Office of Respondent Parent Counsel. Estimated annualized base salary ranges from $80,000 to $100,000, depending on experience. This position will be eligible for performance and discretionary bonuses and includes paid time off, attorneys' dues, and CLEs. Responsibilities Represent clients in criminal defense and/or dependency and neglect proceedings. Manage cases from intake through resolution. Appear in court and on the record for disposition, motion, and emergency hearings as well as court and jury trials. Conduct legal research and draft legal pleadings and motions. Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients. Collaborate with other attorneys including opposing counsel and staff. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. License to practice law in Colorado (or eligible for admission). Interest in firm practice areas (prior experience preferred but not required). Strong courtroom presence or willingness to develop litigation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and time/billing systems. Work Environment Supportive, collegial firm culture. Commitment to healthy work-life balance.
