Job Description

Associate Attorney - Labor and Employment Job description: The Labor & Employment group at Joseph Greenwald and Laake PA., an AV-rated, law firm with offices in Greenbelt and Rockville, MD, seeks a highly motivated client-focused litigation attorney. Two to Three years of litigation experience with minimum two years in employment law litigation is required for this high-volume, litigation-based practice required. This position presents a unique opportunity to join a dynamic practice and to quickly assume substantial responsibility, with one of the area's premier law firms. We anticipate on-boarding immediately. MD Bar is required; DC and VA Bars a plus. The position will be housed in our Greenbelt office. Potential for hybrid work. Job offers competitive salary and benefits package. Cover letter, resume and writing sample of filed pleading are required. Attorney Responsibilities & Duties Represent clients from intake to trial in employment, labor, qui tam, class actions and other legal proceedings. Advocate for clients before administrative agencies, arbitrations, and in court. Conduct legal research and advise clients on legal rights, responsibilities, and strategies. Draft and review legal pleadings, discovery, law and motion, employment agreements, settlement agreements, and other legal documents. Build and maintain client relationships. Negotiate settlements. Examine and vet intakes to determine advisability of representation. Stay updated on changes to laws and regulations. Coordinate with paralegals and legal assistants. 1900 hours minimum billable requirement. Attorney Qualifications & Skills Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. License to practice law in Maryland. Minimum 2-3 years in practice with at least 2 years of labor & employment litigation experience. Demonstrated ability take initiative, problem-solve, multi-task, work independently, and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Advanced legal research and writing capabilities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Strong ethical standards and professional integrity. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with careful attention to detail. Proficiency in legal research databases including Westlaw and/or Lexis. Ability to handle high-pressure environments and tight deadlines. Preferred Additional Requirements Admission to D.C. and/or Virginia Bar. Experience representing Federal employees. Experience managing complex ESI production. Experience litigating complex cases including employment class actions and qui tam matters. Trial experience. Experience managing associates and law clerks. Proficient in Spanish. Transferrable book of business a bonus but not required. Strong connections within the legal community. Board Memberships in legal associations. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Lexis Nexis.
