Role:
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), Office of Legal Services (OLS), Program Integrity and Compliance Branch (PICB) is seeking Attorney IVs to join its administrative litigation and house counsel professionals. Attorney IV positions are crucial in reaching our mission of providing Californians with access to affordable, integrated, high-quality health care, including medical, dental, mental health, substance use treatment services and long-term care. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute work that directly supports the health and well-being of millions of Californians. PICB provides advice and counsel to support DHCS program implementation, policy development and ongoing administration; program integrity including fraud, waste and abuse; compliance and enforcement activities related to audits and investigations, civil rights, communications, administration, managed care, including sanctions, and substance use disorder treatment programs; privacy and information security policies and practices; Public Records Act (PRA) functions; and conflict of interest issues. Attorney IVs represents DHCS in administrative proceedings, serving a critical role enforcing the statutes and regulations governing the Medi-Cal program, and prosecute cases on behalf of the Licensing and Certification Division. Attorney IVs liaisons with the State and United States Departments of Justice. Additional responsibilities of the Attorney IV will include performing legal research; drafting legal opinions, memoranda, and legal documents; providing house counsel advice to DHCS programs, applying legal principles to specific factual situations, and supporting program activities that ensure the integrity of the Medi-Cal program. The Attorney IV qualifies for a "Hire Above Minimum" (HAM) salary. The starting salary for the classification will be: $13,313. Have questions and/or need assistance?
