Job Description
This remote position will manage litigated claims to expedite settlements and control litigation costs by evaluating exposure, analyzing anticipated defense costs, and establishing a defense plan for outside counsel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage litigated claims to expedite settlements and control litigation costs by evaluating exposure, analyzing anticipated defense costs, and establishing a defense plan for outside counsel Maintain adequate reserves Participate in round table discussions prior to ADR or trial to evaluate risk and establish settlement parameters Advise Claims staff on legal issues, investigation, liability, and damages Provide legal opinions to internal stakeholders with respect to coverage issues, interpretation of insurance law or policy language, and other claims- or insurance-related matters as assigned Present internal training seminars to the company, including the Claims and Underwriting departments Maintain litigation files for compliance with internal standards Assist with the development of policy forms and endorsements Other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL:
Juris Doctorate and license to practice law Ability to analyze and interpret complex documents Excellent verbal and written communication skills Great problem-solving and negotiating skills Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment and effectively organize and prioritize Ability to work well with othersPREFERRED
Three years litigation experience focusing on personal injury and/or property claims Trial experience Background in insurance law, tort law, and/or property law and experience providing legal advice regarding insurance or claims-related matters Knowledge of the operations and requirements of insurance companies and insured customers At SECURA, we are transforming the insurance experience by putting authenticity at the forefront of everything we do.Our mission is clear:
