Job Description

Southeast Toyota Finance (SETF) has an immediate opening for an in-house attorney. The position will report to the company's Associate General Counsel. The position requires a solution-oriented team player who is capable of working with minimal supervision in a dynamic, cross-functional business environment, and who is committed to helping the company achieve its business objectives. Duties will include providing counsel to management and employees on federal and state consumer finance laws, regulations and compliance requirements in the automotive industry; working closely with the company's compliance department on a variety of legal and compliance matters; drafting and maintaining a variety of consumer finance contracts, leases and forms; assisting with updating and maintaining the company's policies and procedures; litigation management; investigating and responding to consumer complaints; and assisting with regulatory examinations.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and negotiate various legal agreements, including vendor agreements, and other commercial contracts to protect the company's interests. Providing counsel to management and employees on federal and state consumer finance laws, regulations and compliance requirements to mitigate risks while supporting the company's strategic objectives. Working closely with the company's compliance department on a variety of legal and compliance matters. Drafting and maintaining a variety of consumer finance contracts, leases and forms. Contribute to the development and implementation of company policies, procedures, and guidelines to align with legal requirements and industry best practices. Collaborate with external counsel to handle litigation matters, including disputes, regulatory inquiries, and consumer complaints, and assist in developing effective resolution strategies. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on various issues related to automotive consumer finance, advising the company on the implications of legal developments in connection with business operations. The position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with the flexibility to work from home two days a week.
Qualifications:
J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to The Florida Bar or qualification as Authorized In-House Counsel. 3-5 years of in-house or major law firm experience, preferably in consumer finance, consumer compliance, information security and privacy, and/or related practice areas. Experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and review. Litigation management experience is a plus. Ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner. A proactive and adaptable approach to handling legal challenges in a dynamic business environment. Must have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with internal and external contacts at all levels. Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Must be highly analytical and curious, with the ability to multi-task while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
