Job Description

Default Litigation Specialist I Full time; Non-Exempt; 40 hours/week; Overtime as required.

Default Litigation /Attorney Oversight Dovenmuehle Mortgage, Inc. ("Dovenmuehle") is the leading mortgage subservicing firm in the United States with several hundred financial institution clients nationwide.
General Description:
Handle and defend contested litigation, borrower complaints and client issues for litigated matters on defaulted loans. Must be able to travel nationally, up to 20% of the time.
Essential Functions and Duties/ Department Specific:
  • Investigate, analyze, draft, and respond to all borrower correspondence, including QWRs, NOEs. REFs and the like.
  • Investigate, analyze, and assist in defending all matters of contested litigation assigned within the department.
  • Investigate, analyze, and assist in defending all CFPB Complaints, BBB Complaints, Attorney General Complaints, and other governmental agency complaints.
  • Attend any deposition and/or testify on all assigned contested files or periodic assigned uncontested trials.
  • Annual review of department policies and procedures, as well as the Default Litigation Section of the Best Practices Manual.
  • Act as a liaison between attorney and client to ensure litigation expectations are achieved.
  • Collaborate with other DMI departments to investigate and resolve litigation issues.
  • Handle all foreclosure and escrow related items while loans are in active litigation.
  • Actively participate in identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Successfully complete annual regulatory compliance training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
  • College degree and/or paralegal certification preferred.
  • 1-3 years of mortgage servicing experience with a servicer or subservicer.
  • 1-3 years of default experience at an attorney firm.
  • Solid PC skills: Proficient with Microsoft applications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter and can work independently and in a small group setting.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to always interact in a positive and professional manner.

  • Servicing or default servicing attorney/ legal in-office experience. Benefits

The employee must be comfortable in either an on-site office setting, or a quiet, designated work from home space that is free from distractions and noise. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position and/or move about the organization or remote office. The employee is frequently required to stand or walk (or otherwise move through the organization); sit; use hands to type, write, handle, or feel and reach. May occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; or lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Employees may be required to type and utilize a computer for long periods of time. The employee may be required to frequently operate a standard variety of office equipment including computers, calculators, copy machines, computer printers and phones. The noise level, if working on-site, is usually moderate and typical of an office environment.
