To thrive as a Family Law Paralegal, you should have: Minimum 2+ years of family law paralegal/legal assistant experience, in a law firm setting preferred Paralegal Certificate (ABA-approved program preferred) or equivalent legal training/education Strong knowledge of California family law procedures, court rules, and e-filing systems (San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa preferred) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with Dropbox and legal document preparation software preferred Exceptional organizational, multitasking, and legal writing/editing skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Your responsibilities as the Family Law Paralegal will include: Support attorneys in family law cases, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division matters Draft, review, and file legal documents, pleadings, discovery, and court forms in compliance with California court rules Manage and organize electronic case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of legal records and documentation Conduct legal research, track court deadlines, maintain attorney calendars, and coordinate filings and service of process Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit binders, trial notebooks, mediation (MSC) prep, and hearing materials
