LSE is committed to ensuring that all older people in Maine - of any class, race, sex, background, orientation, or identity -- are secure in meeting their basic needs, including housing, health care, nutrition, community, safety, and freedom from exploitation and oppression. As part of that commitment, LSE works to create and maintain a workforce and culture that reflects the diversity of our state. The Helpline offers legal information, advice and referrals to older people exclusively via telephone in a wide variety of substantive civil legal areas, including health care, housing and debt collection. This position can be fully remote or the person can work from an LSE office located in Augusta. The Attorney will work at least 15 and as much as 37.5 hours per week. The Attorney will work in a team that includes other attorneys, paralegals who screen all first calls for help, and a supervising attorney. LSE's regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 5:00. The successful candidate must have strong organizational skills and a proven ability to provide exceptional client service. Training will be provided in any unfamiliar areas of the law. This is a very rewarding position that offers someone the chance to make a real difference in the lives of older Mainers. Applicants must be licensed to practice in Maine or eligible to be licensed to practice in Maine. The starting hourly wage for this position is $29.50. The position will remain open until filled. Send resume and cover letter to mlachapelle@mainelse.org . Finalists will be asked to provide professional references. LSE is an equal opportunity employer
