Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Insurance Coverage Attorney to join our team to advise clients and insurers on complex coverage issues, assess policy language, and develop strategic positions on claims. The attorney will draft coverage opinions and correspondence, evaluate liability and indemnity exposures, and collaborate with claims handlers, outside counsel, and clients to resolve disputes efficiently and favorably.

Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze insurance policies and related documents to determine coverage issues, exclusions, and obligations.

Prepare clear, well-reasoned written coverage opinions and memoranda for insurers and insureds.

Draft and revise coverage letters, reservation of rights letters, denial letters, and other claims correspondence.

Advise claims teams and clients on coverage positions, litigation strategy, and potential settlement approaches.

Conduct factual and legal research related to coverage disputes, including case law and regulatory developments.

Collaborate with outside counsel on coverage litigation and coordinate defense strategies when coverage and defense issues overlap.

Participate in claim conferences, mediations, and settlement negotiations as needed.

Maintain organized case files and documentation to support coverage determinations and client communications.

Stay current on evolving insurance law, policy language trends, and best practices in coverage counseling.

QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in the jurisdiction of practice.2+ years of experience practicing insurance coverage law or related areas (insurance defense, civil litigation, or claims handling preferred).Proven experience drafting coverage opinions, coverage letters, reservation of rights letters, and denials.

Strong knowledge of insurance policy interpretation, coverage doctrines, indemnity, and duty to defend.

Excellent legal writing, analytical, and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex coverage issues to non-lawyers.

Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with insurance industry practices, claims workflows, and regulatory requirements preferred.

High attention to detail, sound judgment, and a client-service orientation.
