For questions about this role or accommodation requests, contact [email protected] Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Labor Relations, the Labor Relations Representative Intermediate supports and helps facilitate union-management contract negotiations. You will also administer collective bargaining agreements and resolve employee grievances to promote harmonious labor relations within the University. You will advise management representatives on labor relations practices, interpreting labor agreements, and assisting in employee-related matters to ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations. You will provide expertise and support where needed to address labor and employment issues across the institution. By contributing to the development of fair policies and training programs, you will play a crucial part in maintaining a respectful and inclusive work environment. Responsibilities• Support chief negotiators and contract administrators in collective bargaining processes and administration and implementation of labor contracts. Prepare for, support, and participate in labor contract negotiations and administer provisions of collective bargaining agreements. Research, prepare and gather written documentation and data for analysis for presentation during bargaining sessions. Assist with the administration and negotiation of the University's academic and non-academic labor contracts. Support the Office of General Counsel in preparation for arbitrations and matters before MERC. Under supervision and guidance, interpret collective bargaining agreements, and represent management in settling grievances under established grievance and dispute procedures. Help maintain records and documentation of grievances, arbitrations, MERC decisions, discipline, and termination issues. Advise directors, managers, supervisors, and others on interpretation of personnel procedures, legal and union contract compliance, grievance, discipline, and termination matters. Monitor bargaining trends, labor relations issues, disciplinary patterns, actions, and settlements for team discussion. Maintain departmental reports and records and collect statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes, including employee relations issues, cases, and union activities. Partner with administrative units to provide data reports and analysis. Required Qualifications• Bachelor's degree required in a related field such as Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Labor and Employment Relations, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. 1+ years of professional experience working in an academic environment or similarly complex organization with employee or labor relations responsibilities. 1+ years of professional experience participating in the collective bargaining process. Demonstrated work experience in labor relations including union/management relations and the interpretation of policies or negotiated contracts. Demonstrated general work experience managing multiple projects, maintaining positive business relations, and problem-solving workplace issues.
