Job Description

Contract Attorney - California Licensed (1099) Orange County Law Center Santa Ana, California About the Firm Orange County Law Center is a Southern California law practice providing legal services to individuals and businesses throughout California. Due to continued expansion and increasing case volume, we are seeking experienced California-licensed attorneys to take active and overflow matters on a contract (1099) basis. This position is ideal for attorneys seeking flexibility, additional case opportunities, and the ability to work independently while maintaining control over their schedule. Position Overview We are hiring attorneys in good standing with the State Bar of California to work as independent contractors. Most assignments may be handled remotely, although occasional court appearances, depositions, mediations, or client meetings may be required depending on the nature of the case. Assignments are offered based on the attorney's experience, availability, and preferred areas of practice. Practice Areas Current opportunities include, but are not limited to: Civil Litigation Personal Injury Family Law Business & Contract Disputes Employment Law Criminal Defense ADA Law General Civil Matters Real Estate Litigation Landlord-Tenant Matters Probate and Trust Litigation Attorneys with experience in one or multiple practice areas are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and legal correspondence Conduct legal research and case analysis Appear at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials when required Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel Manage assigned matters from intake through resolution Meet all filing deadlines and maintain organized case files Provide high-quality legal representation and work product Compensation & Case Management Structure Independent Contractor (1099) Position Flexible workload and scheduling Competitive compensation based on case type, complexity, and attorney experience Prompt payment upon receipt of case proceeds and completion of agreed services Fee sharing arrangements available where permitted by law and applicable ethical rules Direct payor to payee distributions may be utilized when appropriate Attorneys are responsible for reporting their own income and taxes as independent contractors Assigned case managers may assist with client communications, document collection, scheduling, and administrative support The firm may retain an agreed upon percentage of legal fees for case acquisition, administrative support, marketing, office overhead, staffing, and operational expenses Compensation terms and fee allocations will be discussed and agreed upon before assignment of any matter Qualifications Active California Bar License in good standing Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Ability to effectively manage deadlines and caseloads What We Offer Flexible schedule Remote work opportunities on many matters Steady flow of case assignments Administrative and case management support Opportunity to expand your practice without the expense of operating your own office Professional working environment Potential long-term working relationship How to Apply Please contact: Adam G.
