Patent Agent/Attorney

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Patent Agent/Attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will be responsible for securing patent protections for innovative technologies, providing strategic legal advice on intellectual property matters, and supporting the firm's broader legal initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patent law, combined with excellent research, drafting, and communication skills. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge inventions across diverse industries while collaborating with inventors and clients to safeguard their innovations. Responsibilities Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and other international patent offices. Conduct comprehensive patentability searches and analyze prior art using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to inform patent strategy. Draft detailed patent applications, including specifications, claims, and drawings that clearly define the scope of invention protection. Provide strategic legal advice on intellectual property rights, licensing agreements, and infringement issues. Collaborate closely with inventors, engineers, and clients to understand technical innovations and craft effective patent strategies. Assist in patent litigation support by conducting legal research and preparing documentation related to patent disputes. Stay current on developments in patent law as well as related legal areas such as estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, landlord-tenant law, litigation, and other relevant legal fields. Skills Proven expertise in patent law with experience in drafting and prosecuting patents across various technological sectors. Strong research skills utilizing LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research platforms to support case analysis and strategy development. Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise legal documents including patent applications and legal memos. Effective negotiation skills for licensing agreements or dispute resolution related to intellectual property rights. Familiarity with legal drafting techniques specific to patents and other areas of law such as estate planning or environmental regulations when applicable. Legal administrative experience including managing case files, maintaining records of filings, deadlines, and correspondence. Pay:

$125,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year
