Job Description

Overview Jefferson Law Center is a rapidly growing plaintiff-side medical malpractice firm seeking a Research Attorney to join our team immediately. Our practice focuses on medical malpractice and catastrophic injury litigation, advocating for individuals and families who have suffered serious harm due to medical mistakes. We are a close-knit team currently consisting of two attorneys, three paralegals, and an administrative assistant, and we are expanding as our caseload continues to grow. Located in the heart of the Nautical Mile on Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores, our firm is committed to defending the Seventh Amendment and the constitutional right to seek justice for injuries wrongfully inflicted. This is an on-site position based in our St. Clair Shores office. Position Overview The Research Attorney will play a critical role in developing legal strategy and supporting litigation through in-depth legal and medical research, drafting, and case analysis. This position is ideal for an attorney who excels in writing, critical thinking, and complex issue analysis. Responsibilities Conduct in-depth legal research on complex medical malpractice and personal injury issues Draft notices of intent, complaints, motions, briefs, memoranda, and appellate filings Analyze Michigan statutes, court rules, and case law Conduct medical literature research Review and summarize medical records and deposition transcripts Assist in developing case strategy Prepare research memoranda and litigation outlines Support motion practice and evidentiary issues Assist with case evaluation summaries and demand packages Collaborate with attorneys and staff Stay current on Michigan medical malpractice law Qualifications J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school Exceptional legal writing and research skills Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities Ability to synthesize complex legal and medical issues Experience or interest in medical malpractice preferred Ability to interpret medical and scientific literature Strong organizational and multitasking skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Familiarity with Westlaw/Lexis required; Clio is a plus Current admission to the State Bar of Michigan not required. Individuals awaiting bar results will be considered. Work Environment Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required Some remote flexibility may be available Compensation Compensation will be commensurate with experience and discussed with the lead attorney.
