(Juris Doctor) Required Travel 25-50% AI Summary & Insights Description North Penn Legal Services (NPLS), a nonprofit civil legal aid organization serving Northeast Pennsylvania, is seeking attorneys for its Williamsport, Towanda, and Pittston offices. Attorneys will provide legal representation and advocacy, consistent with licensure status, to low-income individuals and families in a variety of civil legal matters, including family law, housing and landlord-tenant matters, consumer law, mortgage foreclosure, and public benefits cases. Responsibilities include client interviews, legal research, drafting pleadings and legal documents, negotiations, court appearances, representation in administrative proceedings, and participation in community outreach and educational initiatives. Attorneys may represent clients in magisterial district courts, courts of common pleas, and state and federal courts. NPLS offers a collaborative and mission-driven work environment with training opportunities. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on organizational needs. Requirements Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar or eligibility for pending admission to the Pennsylvania Bar Strong oral advocacy, legal writing, and communication skills Demonstrated interest in public interest law and serving underserved communities Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Willingness to travel within the service area, as needed Prior legal internship, clerkship, litigation, or public interest experience preferred Spanish language proficiency is a plus and may qualify for additional compensation
