STAFF ATTORNEY
(ORALARGUMENTS
) Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Staff Attorney specializing in Oral Arguments and In-Court Litigation to join our legal team. This pivotal role involves representing the organization in court proceedings, delivering compelling oral arguments, and managing a diverse caseload across multiple legal disciplines. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in litigation, exceptional legal research and writing skills, and the ability to navigate complex legal issues with confidence and clarity. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to influence legal outcomes directly through courtroom advocacy while contributing to the organization's mission of justice and advocacy. Responsibilities Prepare for and deliver persuasive oral arguments before courts or administrative agencies. Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies and develop compelling arguments. Draft clear, precise legal briefs, motions, pleadings, and other court documents that adhere to procedural rules and organizational standards. Manage a diverse caseload by analyzing case facts, assessing legal risks, and developing effective litigation strategies. Collaborate with clients, witnesses, experts, and internal teams to gather evidence and prepare for court proceedings. Stay current on evolving laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions to ensure compliance and optimal advocacy. Represent the organization at hearings, mediations, negotiations, and other court-related proceedings with professionalism and confidence. Requirements Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in Washington State. Proven experience in litigation across various practice areas. Demonstrated ability to deliver compelling oral arguments in court or administrative hearings. Strong research skills utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw for case law analysis and legal precedent development. Exceptional writing skills with experience drafting briefs, motions, pleadings, and other legal documents. Familiarity with legal administrative processes and courtroom procedures. Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail under pressure. Excellent negotiation skills for settlement discussions or alternative dispute resolution processes. Preferred qualifications include experience with litigation in tribal courts or regulations as well as familiarity with legal research tools like LexisNexis or Westlaw. A background in legal drafting combined with hands-on experience in a busy law office environment will be highly valued.
