Veterans shape the future of energy Duties of a Trial Attorney position could include: Represents DOE's interests in all phases of complex Federal court and administrive litigion. Coordines litigion and participes in formuling the stregy and developing the presention of the Government's case. Coordines and furthers litigion with DOJ by preparing litigion assessments and reports, drafting and editing litigion submissions, supplying necessary informion and recommendions, resolving conflicts, and supporting the stregy used in guiding the position taken on legal and factual issues. Advises supervisor, program office legal staff and DOE officials concerning the pending or potential litigion, questions regarding the interpretion of stutes administered by or applicable to DOE and its activities, and DOE issues and actions. Consistent ability to significantly advance Department interests in mters with exceedingly difficult/complex factual or legal questions. GS-14
Qualificions:
Sound legal training and experience in handling significant legal issues and mters. Sound and authoritive knowledge of legal principles, laws, administrive/judicial decisions, stutes, and regulions, and the ability to advance the Department's policies and programmic interests. Ability to provide sound legal advice to DOE officials, handle broad and complex legal issues (including stutory interpretion), prepare litigion documents in complex mters, and review documents for legal sufficiency to minimize litigion risk. GS-13
Qualificions:
Legal training and increasingly responsible experience in effectively handling litigion cases and reled issues. Highly knowledgeable in federal and DOE litigion cases/issues, with a thorough understanding of legal principles, laws, administrive/judicial decisions, stutes, and regulions impacting Departmental legal cases, and the ability to apply this to significant DOE mters. Increasingly responsible experience in litigion mters, and ability to prepare factually/legally sound litigion work products with minimal supervision. GS-12
Qualificions:
Legal training and experience in handling litigion cases and reled issues. Knowledge of federal and Department of Energy litigion cases/issues (including decisions, stutes, regulions), and ability to apply this to significant DOE mters. Experience analyzing litigion, advising on legal mters, and producing litigion documents. GS-11
Qualificions:
Sound legal training from an accredited law school. Knowledge of legal cases, issues, principles, administrive/judicial decisions, stutes, and regulions affecting Department programs and litigion. Ability to analyze litigion, provide legal advice, and prepare legal briefs/documents. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizions.
