$100K-$110KPosition OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated Workers' Compensation Attorney to manage a robust caseload of workers' compensation matters, representing employer and insurance clients. The attorney will provide strategic legal counsel, handle investigations and discovery, represent clients at hearings and trials, negotiate settlements, and ensure compliance with applicable statutes and regulations to achieve favorable outcomes while controlling litigation costs.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage a high-volume caseload of workers' compensation claims from intake through resolution, prioritizing deadlines and client objectives.

Provide clear, practical legal advice to employer and insurance clients on claim exposure, strategy, and risk mitigation.

Prepare and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court documents in administrative and civil forums.

Conduct fact and legal research, draft legal memoranda, and develop case theories based on evidence and applicable law.

Represent clients at mediations, settlement conferences, administrative hearings, depositions, and trials.

Collaborate with claims adjusters, medical experts, vocational specialists, and outside counsel to develop defense strategies and evaluate settlement options.

Negotiate settlements and structured agreements to resolve claims efficiently while protecting client interests.

Manage discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, subpoenas, witness preparation, and depositions.

Monitor statutory and regulatory developments in workers' compensation law and ensure client matters comply with evolving requirements.

Maintain accurate case files, billing records, and client communications; meet firm productivity and billing targets.

Assist with training and advising clients on best practices to reduce workplace injuries and minimize future liability.

Support business development efforts by cultivating client relationships and contributing to proposals and presentations.

QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolAdmission to practice in Illinois1+ year of experience handling workers' compensation matters; experience in defense-side representation is strongly preferred.

Proven litigation experience, including handling administrative hearings, depositions, and trials in workers' compensation forums.

Strong knowledge of workers' compensation statutes, case law, and procedural rules.

Excellent written and oral advocacy skills; ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly to clients and stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to manage a heavy caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with strong organizational skills.

Experience negotiating settlements and structuring cost-effective resolutions for clients.

Familiarity with claims handling and collaboration with insurance adjusters, medical and vocational experts.

Proficiency with relevant legal research tools and case management software.
