Workers' Compensation Defense Associate Attorney About DJG Law Group DJG Law Group is a California workers' compensation defense firm representing insurance carriers, third-party administrators, self-insured employers, PEOs, and uninsured employers. Our founding attorney is a Certified Specialist and has over 25 years of workers' compensation defense experience and provides direct mentorship and practical litigation guidance. We are a structured, efficient firm focused on strong defense work, responsive client service, and professional development within a supportive team environment. The Opportunity We are seeking a Workers' Compensation Defense Associate Attorney to join our growing team and handle a full WCAB litigation caseload. This role is designed for an attorney who wants meaningful litigation experience, consistent casework, and the ability to develop independently while still having strong support and mentorship available when needed. We are open to experienced WC defense attorneys as well as attorneys with limited or no workers' compensation experience who are motivated to learn and grow in this practice area. Schedule & Work Environment Hybrid schedule currently in place, with transitioning opportunity to fully remote in the future Responsibilities Manage a workers' compensation defense caseload from assignment through resolution Handle WCAB appearances including conferences, trials, and hearings Take and defend depositions (applicants, witnesses, AMEs/QMEs) Draft discovery, pleadings, correspondence, and settlement documents Evaluate exposure and provide recommendations to carriers and clients Negotiate and resolve cases efficiently Communicate regularly with adjusters, clients, and opposing counsel Work collaboratively with support staff to manage case workflow Qualifications Active California State Bar license in good standing Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage litigation deadlines and competing priorities Workers' compensation defense experience preferred, but not required for strong candidates willing to learn Compensation & Benefits $90,000 - $195,000 DOE Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance (fully employer-paid) 401(k) with Safe Harbor contribution Bonus opportunities Strong mentorship and training from a senior WC defense attorney Supportive, team-oriented environment with experienced staff support Why This Role Hands-on WCAB litigation experience in California workers' compensation defense Direct mentorship from an attorney with 25+ years of experience Structured caseload with support staff assistance Clear path for professional growth in a stable defense practice
