Job Description

Job Description Job Description - Partner Job Summary We are a boutique accounting, tax, and advisory firm located just outside of Annapolis on Maryland's Eastern Shore, seeking a seasoned tax professional to join our leadership team as an incoming partner. This role is part of a thoughtful succession plan for a senior partner who is retiring. You will assume responsibility for an established book of business and play a key role in shaping the firm's future-delivering high-level tax planning and advisory services, strengthening long-term client relationships, and mentoring our growing team. This is an opportunity for a hands-on professional who values quality work, trusted advisor relationships, and a collaborative firm culture. Key Responsibilities Provide tax planning, compliance, and advisory services to individuals, closely held businesses, partnerships, and family-owned enterprises. Serve as the primary advisor for clients with complex individual (Form 1040) and pass-through entity (partnership and S corporation) needs. Take over and responsibly grow an existing book of business, maintaining continuity and trusted relationships during the partner transition. Work directly with clients year-round, focusing on long-term planning, proactive advice, and practical solutions-not just compliance. Lead, mentor, and develop staff, including reviewing work, providing technical guidance, and supporting professional growth in a small-team environment. Assist with day-to-day operations including software installations, monitoring contract workers, project tracking, and staff utilization. Contribute to business development through referrals, networking, and expanding services with existing clients-without a "sales-first" mentality. Collaborate closely with fellow partners and team members, contributing to a collegial, one-firm mindset where everyone's success matters. What We're Looking For Active CPA license required. Strong experience with pass-through taxation (partnerships and S corporations) and complex individual tax compliance and planning. Background in federal, multi-state, individual, and partnership tax matters. Proven ability to manage client relationships with professionalism, responsiveness, and sound judgment. Experience mentoring staff and providing hands-on leadership in a smaller firm setting. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to clients and team members. Organized, analytical, and solutions-oriented, with a genuine interest in growing into a long-term leadership role.
