Job Description:
General Summary The Legal Intern provides support to Legal Department with contract agreements, research, and pre-ligation related tasks. This individual will interact with Elevate employees at all levels of the organization and perform a variety of activities, including but not limited to: Principal Duties and Responsibilities Legal research projects on consumer financial regulatory topics and draft memos/create charts summarizing same. Gather and review responsive documents, draft responses to subpoenas and pre-litigation demand letters from bankruptcy trustees. Review contract provisions and draft memos/create charts summarizing same. Track contracts, litigation, and bankruptcy preference demands in logs for reporting purposes. Code law firm invoices for payment and collect month-end accrual estimates Follow state and federal legislative activities and assist in creating monthly update. Update research and reference binders with new laws, surveys, and regulatory guidance. Other duties as assigned. Experience and Education Must have a bachelor's degree Must be enrolled in or have graduated from law school Required Skills, Abilities, Soft Skill Factors Strong research skills, including but not limited to: Westlaw, US Courts (Pacer), state & federal consumer financial regulatory websites. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
