Job Description

Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school preparing East Austin youth to attend and excel at the nation's top colleges and universities. Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school preparing students to attend and excel at the nation's top universities. Austin Achieve currently serves more than 2,800 elementary, middle, and high school scholars across multiple campuses in Austin and Pflugerville, Texas. The Family & Community Outreach Associate works as part of the Family Engagement team to identify, recruit, and support prospective families throughout the enrollment process. This role reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and plays a key role in building relationships within the community and representing Austin Achieve as a high-quality public education organization.  The Family & Community Outreach Associate supports all aspects of the family engagement and enrollment pipeline, including recruitment, retention, and family appreciation efforts. This position requires strong communication skills, organization, and the ability to work in dynamic community settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and current families Conduct presentations at neighborhood centers, churches, schools, and community events Promote family engagement through outreach events and partnerships with local organizations and businesses Participate in community fairs, enrollment events, and outreach activities as needed Serve as a point of contact for the Parent Ambassador program Participate in community outreach efforts such as block walks and neighborhood canvassing Manage and maintain accurate records using Austin Achieve enrollment and outreach databases Conduct outreach through phone calls, emails, and text messaging platforms Support family retention and engagement initiatives Assist with planning and coordinating enrollment and family engagement events Perform other family outreach and community engagement duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or college preparation preferred Spanish fluency required. Basic knowledge of computer use is required, including Apple devices and operating systems (Mac).
Professional Skills and Experience:
Demonstrated interest in education, community outreach, or family engagement Strong public speaking and presentation skills Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills Experience coordinating events or community activities preferred Highly organized with strong time management skills Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously Digital fluency, including email communication and data entry in spreadsheet-style databases. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment Reliable, professional, and dependable. Prior experience working in schools, nonprofits, or community-based organizations Experience working with diverse communities Familiarity with enrollment systems or CRM-style databases Experience supporting family engagement, recruitment, or outreach initiatives
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods during events Ability to walk neighborhoods during outreach activities Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (event materials, tables, supplies) Work Schedule & Location Expectations Availability to work occasional evenings and some Saturdays during peak enrollment and registration seasons Ability to travel between multiple Austin Achieve campuses in Austin and Pflugerville , as well as community locations, as needed and to lead tours for families. Flexibility to work in both office and community-based settings.
