Focus beats scale. JPS Law PLLC is a boutique business and commercial litigation law firm based in Tysons Corner, Virginia. We are small by design and focused by choice. We litigate complex business disputes in Virginia state courts—nothing else competing for attention. We are seeking an experienced civil litigator who can independently manage cases from inception through trial. This is not a position for someone who needs extensive training or day-to-day supervision. We are looking for a lawyer who already knows how to litigate and wants a platform to do excellent work alongside other trial lawyers. The Role. The attorney we hire will immediately assume substantial responsibility for active litigation matters and will work directly with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.

Responsibilities include:

Managing cases from filing through resolution Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive filings Arguing motions in Virginia Circuit Courts and other state courts Taking and defending fact and expert depositions Developing and executing discovery strategy Managing client relationships and litigation strategy Preparing cases for bench and jury trials Trying cases and serving as lead counsel where appropriate Collaborating on trial strategy and case development The ideal candidate is a thoughtful litigator who sees strategy before procedure. They understand how individual decisions fit into the broader objectives of a case, enjoy developing and executing litigation strategy, and are comfortable taking the lead on sophisticated matters while exercising sound judgment and maintaining the high standards our clients expect. Required Qualifications. Active admission to the Virginia Bar Significant civil litigation experience, typically 8+ years Substantial experience practicing in Virginia Circuit Courts Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills Ability to independently manage litigation matters from start to finish Excellent professional judgment and client-management skills Book of Business Optional. Candidates with an established book of business are strongly encouraged to apply. Compensation and partnership opportunities will be structured accordingly. However, a portable book is not required. We are equally interested in experienced litigators who want a long-term platform to develop their own practice, build client relationships, and grow into a leadership role within the firm. Compensation:

Base salary generally ranges from $185,000 to $250,000 , depending on experience, litigation ability, and overall fit. Attorneys with an established book of business or significant business-development potential may be eligible for substantially higher compensation, bonus opportunities, and partnership consideration.
