Job Description

Civil Litigation AssociatePosition Overview We are seeking a driven Civil Litigation Associate to join our litigation team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse civil docket, advance cases through discovery and motion practice, engage in settlement negotiations, and appear in court. This role requires strong litigation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple matters from inception through trial while delivering clear, practical advice to clients.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of civil litigation matters through all stages, including pleadings, discovery, motions, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.

Draft and file complaints, answers, motions, briefs, and other court filings; prepare legal memoranda and client advisories.

Conduct fact and legal research and synthesize findings into persuasive written work product and courtroom presentations.

Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and coordinate with expert witnesses and consultants.

Appear in court and before administrative tribunals for hearings, status conferences, and trial when necessary.

Communicate regularly with clients regarding case strategy, developments, and billing; maintain client files and meet deadlines.

Collaborate with partners and colleagues on case strategy, witness preparation, and trial logistics; mentor and supervise junior attorneys and paralegals.

Manage discovery processes including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and document review and privilege analyses.

Assist in settlement strategy and negotiate favorable resolutions where appropriate.

Maintain accurate time and billing records and contribute to business development efforts as required.

QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.

Demonstrated litigation experience (required); able to manage courtroom responsibilities and litigation workflow independently.

Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills with experience drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.

Experience with discovery practice, depositions, witness preparation, and trial preparation.

Excellent organizational skills, client service orientation, and the ability to manage multiple matters under deadlines.

Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis) and case management software.
Nice-to-have:
background or experience in Civil Litigation, Torts, Employment law, Insurance Defense, Premises Liability, Personal Injury, and Commercial Litigation.

Prior trial experience and/or negotiating complex settlements is a plus.
