Job Description

Job Description Marshall University is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to support the Office of General Counsel in providing legal services to the University. This position plays a key role in managing contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting institutional initiatives through legal research, drafting, and analysis. The Associate Attorney works closely with University leadership and departments across campus to advance the University's mission while mitigating legal risk. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Associate Attorney provides comprehensive legal support under the direction of the General Counsel, including but not limited to: Conduct legal research and analysis related to contracts, agreements, policies, and institutional practices. Review, draft, negotiate, and revise a wide range of contracts, agreements, and legal documents. Examine existing University policies and procedures for legal and regulatory compliance. Secure and maintain executed contracts and other legal documents. Track and maintain contract databases, insurance documentation, premiums, and incentive agreements. Support departmental initiatives and special projects. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the University. Perform other duties as assigned by the Office of General Counsel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of contract management and legal document review. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. High ethical standards and sound professional judgment.
