MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree or equivalent with coursework in business, paralegal, or law enforcement or related field and three (3) years or more of administrative/clerical experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft products (Word/Excel), and database experience.
FUNCTION
Provides case management/legal clerical support to child support enforcement supervisor and prosecutors. Prepares incoming cases for prosecution by reviewing, retrieving evidence for, and electronically updating case information. Incorporates both electronically and manually submitted case information from police departments and various other agencies into the electronic case file. Prepares motions and provides legal clerical support to staff attorneys.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains legal files (both paper & electronic); prepares and sets up files, organizes documents, and files documents in designated order; retrieves/replaces files, and routes items needing immediate response to the appropriate party; Prepares, types, proofreads and processes legal and administrative correspondence and documents; Provides assistance to Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys (APAs) regarding various evidence requests such as Medical Examiner's Office requests, medical records, Journal Entries, subpoenas, EMS, 911 calls, and evidence data collection; Adheres to legal document standards to ensure proper format and completeness for court acceptance; Performs case intake by evaluating submitted case materials and incorporating the information into the electronic case file; Communicates with and/or serves as liaison between APAs, clients, coworkers, opposing counsel, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, various governmental agencies and the general public; Inputs, retrieves, and updates information using computerized databases, obtains criminal histories by accessing the Law Enforcement Automated Database System; Completes quality assurance review of court cases by verifying case information for accuracy and completeness and by researching and correcting discrepancies; Attend meetings with Supervisors and APAs; Monitors case workflows/tasks to ensure requested information is received on a timely basis. May transcribe legal dictation, recorded interviews or phone calls; Performs all other duties assigned, delegated or required of the Intake Officer as well as those prescribed by law; Conducts business in accordance with federal statutes and guidelines, the Ohio Revised Code, and the Ohio Administrative Code.
