Position Overview:
The Administrative Support Specialist will be responsible for providing support to Legal Services of Eastern Michigan's Senior Services Practice Group and will be based in the organization's Saginaw office. With established supervision, this position is tasked with providing office support with emphasis on (a) composition, editing and production typing; including the preparation of documents, correspondence and reports from general instructions or rough drafts (b) communication with clients, and (c) work on assigned projects. Position requires performance of the full range of office support duties including typing, data entry, filing. Responsible for providing a variety of services which relieve an attorney of administrative details. Work requires well-developed verbal skills and interpersonal skills to give and receive information and to coordinate with other staff, clients and the public. Applicants must be efficient and comfortable being a member of a team working on a wide range of tasks and projects for the program. It is essential that this position multi-task, while maintaining multiple deadlines. The ideal candidate is resourceful and organized. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize a full workload.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Compiles, edits, and files legal documents and correspondence with oversight. 2. Provides administrative and other office support for staff of the practice group. 3. Communicates with clients and outside stakeholders to exchange information. 4. Serves as secondary intake support (as needed).
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Three (3) years office experience in lieu of degree considered
Experience:
Prior administrative support experience
Prior legal experience preferred
Skills:
Advanced computer skills
Ability to work with a wide range of clients and stakeholders
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask
Attention to detail Salary Salary is commensurate with qualifications and dependent on union scale.
