Job Description

The City of Russellville is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Legal Assistant.
Job Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Secretary to join our team. If you have two years of legal assistant experience, we encourage you to apply. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of court rules and procedures. Superior organizational skills and unwavering mindfulness are essential for this role. Additionally, the ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have a solid understanding of legal terminology is crucial. Proficiency in MS Word, Gmail, and legal calendaring is required. The candidate must be meticulous, with a keen ability to proofread and competently manage a busy desk. Attendance and punctuality are paramount, as we rely on our team to maintain our high standards of service. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the City attorney by managing various administrative tasks. Responsibilities Draft correspondence, reports, legal pleadings, and transcribe dictation with accuracy and efficiency. Organize and maintain both electronic and physical files utilizing document management systems. Prepare, copy, and distribute legal documents to ensure timely filing with the appropriate courts and relevant parties. Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings effectively. Exhibit professional phone etiquette when communicating with clients, courts, and other legal professionals. Perform clerical tasks, including filing, data entry, and general office support. Maintain a tickler system to track deadlines, manage recalls, subpoena records, and monitor schedules for active files. Skills Proficient in legal drafting with a strong attention to detail. Familiarity with general litigation. Excellent written communication skills to effectively prepare documents. Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks efficiently. Experience with document management systems to streamline workflow. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly. Competent in document review processes to ensure quality assurance. Strong phone etiquette for professional communication with clients and stakeholders.
Schedule:
8 hour shift Monday to
Friday Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma and two years of experience. Notary Public preferred Possession of a valid Arkansas driver's license. Ability to obtain Arkansas Crime Information Center (ACIC) Operator's license within sixty (60) days of hire. Salary $40,000
