Salary:
$70,000 - $90,000 per year A bit about us: A respected Arizona civil defense firm is seeking a Civil Litigation Paralegal to join its litigation team. The firm handles complex civil defense matters, including high-stakes civil rights, public entity, law enforcement, government, school district, and related litigation. This position will provide substantive legal and administrative support through all phases of civil litigation, from case intake and investigation through discovery, motion support, mediation, trial preparation, trial, and post-resolution matters. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting attorneys in a fast-paced litigation environment involving sensitive and complex matters. Why join us? - Compensation in the $70,000-$90,000 range
- 37.5-hour work week with flexible start times
- Annual billable target of 1,560 hours, based on a 6-hour daily billable requirement
- Year-end bonus structure based on firm profitability, typically paid in January or February
- Annual salary evaluations around hire date
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits with 50% covered, eligible the first of the month following hire
- HSA option available
- 401(k) eligibility after 90 days with up to 5% employer match
- 120 hours of frontloaded PTO/sick time, with rollover up to 37.5 hours
- Standard federal holidays Job Details The Civil Litigation Paralegal will assist attorneys with all stages of litigation, including case investigation, discovery, court filings, deadline management, mediation preparation, trial preparation, and trial support.
Responsibilities include:
- Draft and prepare discovery, subpoenas, notices, correspondence, and litigation documents
- Coordinate and track discovery, document productions, subpoenas, and deadlines
- Review, summarize, and organize medical records, business records, transcripts, and case materials
- Manage electronic and physical case files
- Coordinate state and federal court filings, including exhibits
- Maintain litigation calendars, including deadlines, hearings, expert disclosures, mediations, and trial dates Assist with deposition, mediation, hearing, and trial preparation Prepare trial binders, exhibits, witness lists, and related materials Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, experts, and vendors Assist with courtroom technology and electronic exhibit presentation when needed Track billable time accurately and meet productivity expectations
Qualifications:
- 3-8+ years of litigation defense experience preferred
- Civil litigation, civil defense, public entity defense, law enforcement defense, government defense, or civil rights defense experience preferred
- Strong discovery, drafting, e-filing, calendaring, and trial preparation experience
- Experience summarizing medical records, transcripts, and case materials
- Paralegal certificate, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience with Clio strongly preferred
- Strong organization, writing, communication, and deadline-management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys and legal staff
- Professional, detail-oriented, confidential, and open to feedback
