IMMIGRATION PARALEGAL
Glendale, CA 91203 From $20 an hour - Full-time From $20 an hour - Full-time Who We Are The Law Offices of Michael J. Gurfinkel, Inc is a well-established immigration law firm, with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, & New York. We are seeking an Immigration Paralegal for our Glendale, CA office. Our firm has been in business for almost 35 years, and we pride ourselves that most of our staff have been with us for 10, 15, or even 20 years, as we continue to expand with increased caseload and business. What We Are Looking For With our "family" type work environment, we are looking for someone who is congenial, works in a team effort to help our clients achieve the American Dream, and is dedicated and passionate about client service. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 solid years' experience with family and employment-based petitions, adjustment/consular processing, and removal. Excellent English writing skills and attention to detail are required. Must be computer savvy, familiar with case management program (DOCKETWISE a plus), and authorized to work in the U.S.
General Responsibilities:
Case Management Maintain and organize client files and case documentation. Track case deadlines and ensure timely submission of filings. Coordinate with clients to gather necessary documentation for immigration petitions. Filing and Document Preparation Prepare and draft petitions, applications, and supporting affidavits for various visa types, green cards, and naturalization processes. Compile evidence and prepare exhibits for filings with USCIS, consulates, and immigration courts. Submit filings to USCIS, NVC, DOL, and other relevant agencies. Follow up with government offices on case status and requests for evidence (RFEs). Prepare responses to RFEs and support attorneys in communicating with agencies Client Communication and Support Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding case status and required documents. Provide clear instructions and guidance to clients on completing forms and meeting application requirements. Translate or assist with understanding legal terminology for clients when needed. Attorney Support Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, interviews, and client consultations. Draft correspondence, legal memos, and case summaries for attorney review. Ensure attorneys are updated on case developments and deadlines. Compliance and Recordkeeping Ensure adherence to firm and legal standards for confidentiality and ethical conduct. Maintain a case management system to track progress, correspondence, and filing history. Keep up to date with changes in immigration law and procedures.
