About the Role The Paralegal I - Litigation is an integral part of Latham's Legal Professional and Paralegal team and will be responsible for performing legal tasks and providing various administrative support to attorneys and other supervising paralegals, while coordinating the work of support departments, attorney support team members, and junior paralegals to retrieve, assemble, and organize documents for review by supervisors. This role will be located in either our Orange County, Silicon Valley, San Francisco or San Diego office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. Responsibilities & Qualifications Other key responsibilities include: Coordinating and assisting in the discovery process including gathering, reviewing, and analyzing documents for production, with guidance of an attorney or senior paralegal, and managing and utilizing e-discovery platforms. Assisting with the preparation of legal documents including pleadings, motions, and exhibits, discovery requests/responses, and correspondence in accordance with court rules and deadlines Assisting in preparing witnesses for deposition, internal client investigations, and assisting attorneys with client interviews by assembling witness binders, containing interview memos, digests, and relevant documents Conducting basic searches and creating reports in databases or other document repositories Maintaining the integrity of the case or transactional documents generated throughout the duration of a case or transaction Completing special projects on various issues as assigned Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains We'd love to hear from you if you: Display proficient knowledge of applications typically used in a legal office environment, such as billing software and databases, and internet searching skills Demonstrate knowledge of MS Office applications, specifically MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook Possess well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm And have: A bachelor's degree (and a signed declaration if located in a California office), or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a law firm or other legal setting required, preferably as a paralegal Benefits & Additional Information Successful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also be provided with a generous total compensation package with bonuses awarded in recognition of both individual and firm performance.
