PARALEGAL - PICAYUNE RANCHERIA OF CHUKCHANSI INDIANS

(OAKHURST) Under the direction of the Deputy Attorney General, the Paralegal provides legal and administrative support to the Office of the Attorney General and Tribal leadership. This position assists attorneys by conducting legal research, preparing and organizing case materials, drafting legal documents, and maintaining legal records. The role supports legal matters related to tribal governance, compliance, and operations and requires strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive legal information. Essential Duties Conduct legal research on tribal, federal, and state laws affecting the Tribe and its operations. Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents including resolutions, contracts, pleadings, memoranda, and policy documents. Prepare and organize materials for hearings, court proceedings, and Tribal Council meetings. Maintain and organize legal case files, records, and document tracking systems. File legal documents with tribal, state, and federal courts or agencies as directed. Assist with investigations, fact gathering, and document review related to legal matters. Review contracts and agreements and assist with document preparation under attorney supervision. Coordinate with tribal departments and external legal entities on compliance and regulatory matters. Assist with legal department workflow, scheduling, document management, and correspondence. Support grant applications, reporting requirements, and other legal or governance initiatives as assigned. Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all legal matters. Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Attorney General or Office of the Attorney General. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree or Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a legal setting such as a law firm, tribal government, public agency, or nonprofit organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools such as Westlaw or similar platforms. Ability to type at least 50 words per minute. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information. Must successfully pass all required criminal, character, and background checks. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Native American Studies, Political Science, or related field. Experience working with tribal governments, federal Indian law, or tribal governance matters. Familiarity with tribal legal systems, tribal constitutions, or tribal governance structures.

Salary Range:

$55,000 - $80,000 DOE
