Job Overview Higgs Fletcher & Mack LLP, one of San Diego's oldest and most prestigious downtown law firms, is seeking an experienced Family Law paralegal. At HFM, you'll work across diverse practice areas, represent esteemed clients, and contribute to a longstanding tradition of legal excellence. Responsibilities Job Responsibilities Demonstrate advanced knowledge of family law litigation procedures in state courts, including local rules, filing requirements, and statutory deadlines Review, organize, and analyze financial, custody, and disclosure documents related to divorce, parentage, support, and domestic violence matters Coordinate expert witnesses such as custody evaluators, forensic accountants, vocational evaluators, and appraisers to support case development and testimony Draft pleadings, motions, requests for orders, declarations, discovery responses, settlement agreements, disclosures, and correspondence Prepare written discovery, deposition outlines, exhibit lists, and trial preparation materials Manage subpoenas, deposition scheduling, service of process, and communication with opposing counsel Maintain case files and manage electronic documents using Eclipse and other platforms Provide administrative support, including scanning, organizing, calendaring, and preparing legal materials for hearings and trials Required Experience Bachelor's Degree or a Paralegal Certificate (preferred) Minimum of five years of experience in family law litigation Strong understanding of court procedures, legal terminology, and family law principles Strong administrative skills, high attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines Professional appearance and effective communication with clients, attorneys, experts, and court personnel Proficiency in legal software such as iManage, Compulaw, Forms Workflow, Westlaw, and/or other comparable programs is a must
