Job Description

Immigration Paralegal (Bilingual; English/Spanish) PizanoLaw, P.C., a removal defense/family immigration law firm based in San Jose, is seeking to hire an experienced bilingual paralegal fluent in English and Spanish . The position is a full-time position. The duties include preparing humanitarian type applications, family-based petitions and waiver applications under the supervision of an attorney. Our mission is to provide compassionate representation and prevent the separation of families. Candidates for the position are expected to share our mission. Applicants who are not fluent in both English and Spanish will not be considered. Responsibilities Prepare applications for humanitarian relief (e.g., U visas, T visas, VAWA petitions, etc…); Prepare family-based immigration petitions and waiver applications (e.g., I-130, I-601A, I-601, I-212, etc…); Draft immigration forms, declarations, supporting exhibits and gather supporting evidence; Communicate, in Spanish, with clients to gather necessary information, provide case updates and explain immigration processes; Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files; and Monitor case deadlines and assist attorneys with case management.
Qualifications:
Fluent in Spanish & English (written and oral) (required) ; Two years of immigration law experience (required) ; Good writing skills; Computer literacy; Working knowledge of case management software; Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols and court system; Excellent organizational skills; Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure; Commitment to hard work, attention to detail and excellent writing; and Prior experience with family petitions, waivers and humanitarian application is a plus.
