Job Description
We are an established Corporate Immigration Law Firm seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Legal Assistant to join our North San Jose team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in immigration law, enjoys detailed and organized work, and wants to build practical legal experience in a professional, team-oriented environment. No prior immigration experience is required. We will provide training in employment-based immigration processes, including PERM labor certification matters. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable following structured procedures while learning a highly specialized area of law. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys working with documents, checklists, forms, spreadsheets, deadlines, and professional communication. The position involves regular interaction with attorneys, paralegals, employer representatives, HR personnel, foreign national employees, vendors, and internal team members. Over time, the person in this role will have the opportunity to grow into more independent case management responsibilities. What You'll Do Assist with employment-based immigration matters, including PERM labor certification cases. Help prepare forms, collect documentation, organize case files, and track case deadlines. Coordinate PERM recruitment steps, including advertisements, job orders, postings, and recruitment timelines. Communicate with employer representatives, HR contacts, foreign nationals, attorneys, paralegals, and vendors regarding document requests, recruitment activities, and case updates. Maintain and update case management systems with accurate case notes, deadlines, and document status. Track outstanding items and proactively follow up with clients and team members. Work closely with a manager to prioritize daily assignments and meet internal service deadlines. Support attorneys and paralegals with timely and accurate case preparation. Develop specialized knowledge of corporate immigration processes through hands-on training. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent administrative, legal, HR, or office experience. Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and follow-up items. Comfort working with forms, documents, checklists, spreadsheets, and case management systems. Proactive, dependable, and willing to ask questions, take initiative, and learn. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, document scanning, cloud-based software, or legal case management systems is a plus.
