Role Description This is meant to be a full-time on-site Paralegal role located in south Parker, CO at Perkins Law Group, PC, with full time hours expected. We may consider part time for the right applicant. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and assist in making our clients' lives better! We desire a positive individual who is highly motivated and tech savvy. The paralegal will be responsible for supporting attorneys in various legal tasks, managing documentation, drafting pleadings for court, calendaring deadlines, communicating with clients, and providing administrative support. Must be able to handle multiple areas of law and their deadlines, as well as take ownership of your work. Additionally, by assisting the Public Administrator for the 23rd Judicial District, there is more to this position than just a normal office position. Driving and the use of a personal vehicle is required to various offsite locations, looking through a decedent's personal property and assets, communicating with family and friends, as well as interacting with the general public. Because we are a small firm, the job duties of a paralegal and legal assistant are often intertwined. Which means you shall be required to make copies, get/make coffee, answer phones and be willing to do what it takes to help the firm succeed. Helping us create additional templates and processes to help the firm thrive is a major plus. Do not apply if you are not ready to work hard. We work hard and from the office, but we also have fun. Qualifications Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks for both litigation and transactional cases. Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Excel and Word. Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat. Ability to learn and utilize a digital file case management system. Ability to help prepare for trial—including organizing exhibit books. Experience working in a law firm setting is a plus, especially with knowledge of the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure, the Colorado Rules of Probate Procedure, and court rules. Attention to detail and accuracy. Strong grammar, writing and typing skills. A BA/BS or similar qualification is requested but not required. A combination of experience and education may be considered. An ABA approved Paralegal Certificate preferred but not required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Help administer both intestate and testate estates.
- Administer trusts for people after death.
- Prepare inventories and accountings for estates and trusts.
- Draft estate plans and ancillary documents.
- Assist clients with funding services for their trusts.
- Prepare eviction notices and eviction complaints.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation.
- Draft and file pleadings, disclosures and discovery.
- Be able to conduct research and analysis using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case preparation and strategy.
- Visit houses to help the public administrator protect and preserve estates.
- Experience in the administration and support of both trusts and estates including general understanding of fiduciary duties and obligations.
- Prepare summaries of legal documents and assist with proofreading and transcription to ensure accuracy.
- Conduct client interviews under attorney supervision and assist with client communication as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and ensure compliance with legal standards.
