Legal Assistant Holahan Gumpper & Dowling Fairfield, CT Job Details Full-time $40,000 - $50,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off 401(k) matching Qualifications Microsoft Excel Microsoft Outlook Word embeddings Full Job Description A three-attorney AV-rated civil litigation firm in Fairfield seeks a full-time, entry-level legal assistant to provide clerical, administrative, and transactional support to the firm's litigation and transactional practices. The candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively and independently. Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook are essential. Proficiency in Excel, Adobe, and TABS billing software is preferred. Prior experience in the legal field is helpful but not required. Salary commensurate with experience. Responsibilities Draft/compile legal documents for review and use by attorneys such as deposition notices, subpoenas, discovery responses, client and attorney correspondence, affidavits, and basic filings with the court. Maintain attorneys' calendars with court events, deposition and hearing dates, and filing deadlines. Coordinate scheduling of events with clients and between multiple parties involved in litigation. Schedule/coordinate depositions, medical examinations and other court designated hearings. Retain court reporters and interpreters as necessary. Draft and review legal correspondence including thorough proofreading of documents for spelling and formatting. Open and maintain client files both in hard copy and electronically. Input and maintain information in case management and billing systems. Create indices, summaries, and binders of medical records. Submit court filings electronically to State and Federal court filing systems including electronic payments as necessary. Organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook). Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi tasks. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Professional demeanor and ability to interact effectively with attorneys, colleagues, and clients. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment. Compensation & Benefits This position offers an annual salary range between $40,000 - $50,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. Support staff may also be eligible for discretionary year-end bonuses and a merit-based increase. Our benefits package includes medical insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and two-weeks paid time off per year.
