Job Description

Entry Level Real Estate Paralegal - Post Closing This role picks up every residential closing after signing. You'll review executed packages for missing items, disburse funds and balance files to zero, get recordable documents to the right Connecticut town hall on time, and issue title policies once recording confirms. The work is steady and detailed. Real money moves through these files and real homes are changing hands, so accuracy is the whole job. Mancuso Carey is the Connecticut retail division of Holler Law Firm, which has handled attorney-directed residential closings since 2009. This position is based in our Rocky Hill office and supports the retail closing practice across northern and eastern Connecticut. What You'll Do Review executed closing packages for signatures, initials, notarizations, and required attachments. Track down what's missing and coordinate corrections with borrowers, sellers, agents, and lenders. Process incoming and outgoing wires, short-to-close checks, deposit checks, seller proceeds, broker commissions, recording checks, and payoff checks. Confirm good funds before any disbursement leaves the trust account. Balance every file to zero before completion. Escalate imbalances or unusual funding issues to the appropriate attorney or paralegal. Prepare recordable documents (deeds, mortgages, powers of attorney, easements, subordinations, assignments) for submission to Connecticut towns or recording vendors. Track each one through to confirmation and resolve rejections promptly. Scan and upload closing packages to the firm's document management system using established naming conventions and stacking order. Catch duplicates and misnamed files before they propagate. Issue owner's and lender's title policies once recording confirmation comes in, then send them to the right parties with cover letters. Ship lender originals, title policies, and check packages by FedEx and mail. Track shipments and follow up on anything that goes missing, delays, or gets rejected. Handle returned checks, stop-payment requests, deposit returns when transactions terminate, and the firm's check-pickup procedures.
What We're Looking For Required:
Experience in real estate closings, title, escrow, banking, mortgage servicing, legal operations, or accounting. Other roles where you've been trusted with funds, original documents, or precise records are also relevant. Strong attention to detail with numbers, names, wire instructions, and legal documents. Ability to follow written procedures consistently, including stacking order, naming conventions, and escalation paths. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to stay calm when something's off and you need answers from a lender, agent, or vendor. Helpful, not required: Experience handling escrow or IOLTA funds. Familiarity with RynohLive or similar reconciliation software. Connecticut recording experience. Background reviewing closing disclosures, ALTA statements, ledgers, and wires. Experience preparing owner's and lender's title policies. What It's Like to Work Here The work is detailed and deadline-driven. End of month is busy because that's when most closings fund. Our team plans for it, and closings hit their dates. The people who do well here take pride in catching the small things before they become problems: the signature on the wrong line, the wire that's $12 off, the deed missing a notary stamp. We value that kind of work, and we don't need anyone to be the loudest voice in the room. Compensation & Logistics Full-time, non-exempt position based in our Rocky Hill office. Extended hours possible during high-volume periods, particularly end of month. Compensation depends on experience. How to Apply Apply through Indeed with your resume. If you've handled closing funds, recording, or post-closing work before, mention it briefly in your application.
