Full job description The Family Law and Litigation Paralegal will work closely with attorneys on a wide variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, modifications, and domestic violence cases. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft and prepare legal documents including petitions, motions, discovery, financial affidavits, parenting plans, and settlement agreements. Assist attorneys in preparation for hearings, mediations, and trials. Organize and maintain case files in both physical and digital formats. Manage deadlines and court calendars, ensuring all filings and disclosures are timely. Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review. Gather, review, and summarize financial records, medical records, and discovery materials. Communicate with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel in a professional and courteous manner. Monitor case progress and provide regular updates to clients and attorneys. Assist with e-filing and service of documents through appropriate court systems.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred; Bachelor's degree preferred. 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal.
Preferred:
2+ years of experience in Family Law as a paralegal or legal assistant. Proficiency with case management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organizational, writing, and time management skills. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Strong interpersonal skills and a client-first mindset.
