At TLC, we believe strong support teams are essential to delivering quality care and maintaining operational excellence. We are currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join our in‑house legal team. This position provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys, including case management, document preparation, scheduling, and coordination with state and federal courts. While the role is office‑based, candidates located in Indiana or Florida are preferred due to the jurisdictions supported. Responsibilities:
As a Legal Assistant, your duties will include key responsibilities: Case Management Organize and maintain high‑volume electronic and physical case files Track deadlines, court dates, and key case milestones Ensure all documents are accurately labeled, stored, and easily accessible Document Preparation Draft, format, proofread, and process legal documents including pleadings, motions, summonses, complaints, and subpoenas Assist attorneys with revisions, finalization, and filing of legal documents Prepare exhibits and supporting materials for litigation and filings Scheduling & Coordination Manage attorney calendars, including court hearings, depositions, meetings, and filing deadlines Coordinate scheduling with courts, clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel Monitor and update schedule changes in real time to ensure deadlines are met Court Interaction File documents with state and federal courts, including electronic filing (e‑filing) Communicate with court personnel regarding filings, deadlines, and procedural requirements Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel Clerical & Administrative Support Process incoming and outgoing mail and legal correspondence Perform data entry and maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records Utilize legal and office software systems to support daily workflow Maintain strict confidentiality of all client, case, and firm information
Qualifications:
Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required Experience Previous experience working in a law firm required Medical malpractice litigation experience preferred Additional experience in employment law or contract litigation is a plus Skills & Abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills Effective written and verbal communication abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment Legal Knowledge Familiarity with Indiana court rules and procedures required Familiarity with Florida or Ohio court rules and procedures is a plus Experience using Indiana state and federal electronic filing (e‑filing) systems; willingness to learn Florida and Ohio e‑filing systems Working knowledge of legal terminology and standard legal document formats Work Environment Office‑based role with frequent computer use and document handling May require occasional extended hours to meet court filing deadlines
