Job Description The Lindsay and Matt Moroun Religious Liberty Clinic is a teaching law practice that educates, forms, and trains Notre Dame law students as they work to defend religious freedom for all people. Under the guidance of Law School faculty and staff, students work on a broad variety of legal matters to promote religious freedom on behalf of individuals and organizations of all beliefs, both domestically and abroad. The Clinic represents clients from all faith traditions to promote not only the freedom for people to hold religious beliefs but also their fundamental right to express those beliefs and to live according to them. The Religious Liberty Clinic is seeking to hire a Legal Assistant who will provide administrative, clerical, paralegal, and receptionist support for the Clinic. The Clinic functions as both an active law office and an academic teaching unit of the Law School. The Legal Assistant will support the Director, Managing Attorney, Staff Attorneys, Legal Fellows, and students who work in the Clinic representing clients. The Legal Assistant will perform paralegal and case management tasks, including formatting, citechecking, and proofreading legal documents, filing pleadings through electronic court filing systems, and maintaining the Clinic's case-management system. The Legal Assistant will handle client and other correspondence, help maintain the Clinic's financial records, and provide support for Clinic events. The Legal Assistant will also provide general administrative and receptionist support for the Clinic. 3 to 4 years (preferred)Skills:
Ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines Excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledge or ability to learn how to file pleadings and other legal documents Proficient in Word, Excel, and Google Drive and associated programs Paralegal Certificate and a Notary Public Commissioner (preferred) Experience working in a law firm or other legal office (preferred) Positive attitude Supportive of mission of Religious Liberty Clinic, Law School, and University Additional InformationRESUME & COVER LETTER ARE REQUIRED
