Paducah & Louisville Railway, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Paralegal in the Legal Department. This management position is responsible for on contract management, real estate, labor relations, and litigation. Initially, the primary focus of this position will be the implementation of new contract management software, including helping to migrate and organize existing agreements, configure the system, and establish workflows and standards for its use. As the position is established and the incumbent becomes familiar with the company's operations, the role will transition into broader general paralegal duties supporting the full range of the Legal department's work. - Help migrate, organize, and clean up existing contracts and related records as they are loaded into the new software system.
- Support user training and adoption and serve as a day-to-day point of contact for contract management system questions.
- Maintain a centralized, organized repository of contracts and related documents, ensuring records are complete, current, and easily retrievable.
- Track key contract dates, renewals, expirations, and obligations, and provide timely reminders to responsible parties.
- Prepare initial drafts of routine agreements and amendments from approved templates and assist attorneys in revising and finalizing documents.
- Review contracts for completeness, proper execution, and consistency with company standards, flagging issues for attorney review.
- Coordinate the contract intake, routing, signature, and filing process across departments.
- Help develop and improve contract management procedures, templates, and tracking systems.
- Conduct legal and factual research and prepare summaries and memoranda.
- Assist with litigation support, including document collection, organization, discovery responses, case file management, and coordination with outside counsel.
- Support regulatory and compliance matters, including filings with relevant agencies.
- Assist with corporate governance documents, real estate and right-of-way matters, and claims handling as needed.
- Draft and proofread correspondence, forms, and other legal documents.
- Manage deadlines, calendars, and case or matter tracking for the department.
- Provide general administrative and project support to the General Counsel and legal team.

- Associate's or Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Paralegal certificate from and ABA-approved program preferred.
- 3-5 years of paralegal experience with a primary focus in transactional matters.
- Experience in contract management or with implementing and administering contract lifecycle management software of other document management systems preferred.
- Background in railroad, transportation, logistics, or a regulated industry.
- Strong organizational skills and exception attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
- Proficient Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) skills.
- Proficient computer skills with legal support technology.
- Knowledge of applicable legal areas, including familiarity with litigation support.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, including contracts and real estate instruments.
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and writing skills.
