Job Description
Litigation Paralegal - Simon, Peragine, Smith & Redfearn, LLP | New Orleans, LA Simon, Peragine, Smith & Redfearn is a well-established litigation firm with nearly five decades of experience representing insurers, businesses, and individuals in complex civil matters. We're looking for an experienced litigation paralegal to support a broad defense practice spanning maritime, insurance coverage, construction, and casualty litigation — factually intensive cases that move quickly and demand a paralegal who takes real ownership of their files. What You'll Do You'll work directly with attorneys on matters involving maritime casualties and vessel operations, insurance coverage disputes, construction defect and injury claims, and general casualty defense including commercial vehicle and premises liability cases. Day-to-day, that means managing large case inventories, coordinating written discovery and depositions, handling filings in state and federal court (including admiralty), organizing and summarizing medical and technical records, and helping attorneys prepare for hearings and trial. You'll communicate regularly with clients, adjusters, underwriters, and opposing counsel. You take initiative and keep cases moving without needing micromanagement. What We're Looking For At least three years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably on the defense side. Experience in maritime, insurance coverage, or construction litigation is a strong plus. You should be comfortable in Louisiana state and federal court e-filing systems, experienced with large-volume case management, and detail-oriented enough to catch what others miss. Paralegal certification is a plus but not required if your experience speaks for itself.
