Legal Assistant This is two attorneys sharing office. The attorneys' primary areas of practice are Immigration, Family, Criminal and Personal Injury. They are currently looking to hire Full-time legal assistant in our Brooklyn Center, MN Office. The successful candidate will be a team-player, have a high level of attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) and the ability to multi-task. Compensation depends upon experience, background, and education. The position will require 37.5 to 40 hours a week.
Job Description:
As a Full-time Legal Assistant you will be responsible for performing a variety of general legal support tasks including but not limited to: Answering Phone calls, corresponding with emails, and customer services Prepare affidavits, legal correspondence, other documents, and organize and maintain documents in paper and electronic filing systems Prepare immigration forms and documents Assist with the preparation of legal documents including briefs, pleadings, motions, proposed orders, and completing immigration forms, Summary Judgments motions and motions for default Reviewing, preparing, and editing legal documents. Assisting attorneys in preparing files for court. Tasks of a similar nature, to be assigned Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case File pleadings with the e-filing system and file petitions Assist with personal injury claims and prepare cover letters
Qualifications:
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook. Organizational, verbal and written communication skills a must. Typing and keyboarding experience with 50+ WPM required. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is required. Basic knowledge of the legal process and legal documents required. Bilingual Proficiency (English and Spanish) required

Part-Time Applicants Required education and experience: Bachelor's preferred 1 year or more Legal Assistant experience is a plus Knowledge of and or ability to learn court procedures and rules in family Basic knowledge of Immigration law, forms and process Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
