The ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a close-knit team provides a challenging opportunity and an enjoyable workplace. The responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
(Including, but not limited to): Provide general legal administrative support, including calendar management, scheduling and arranging attorney and client meetings, conferences and depositions, responding to and handling routine correspondence and making reservations/appointments. Coordinate travel arrangements (e.g. accommodations, transportation, and shipment of any needed materials) and report expenses. Provide quality, responsive customer service to clients, attorneys, and co-workers. Review, organize, sort and distribute daily mail on numerous client matters. Review and finalize client billings, in appropriate. Maintain electronic client files, including electronic pleadings and indices, as well as original pleadings and client documents. Provide quality, responsive customer service to clients and co-workers. Provide docketing/calendaring support. Prepare and edit legal correspondence and documents, and basic document manipulation. Review, edit and finalize attorney and paralegal time entries and manage client invoices. Process conflict checks, engagement agreements, and initiate new client intake promptly and accurately. Track and organize receipt and expense submissions. Monitor and maintain attorney professional memberships, CLE reporting, and license renewals. Electronically file litigation pleadings and other documents with state, federal and appellate courts, both locally and nationally. Handle docketing of court scheduling orders, briefing schedules and other court mandated conferences, dates, and other litigation requirements.

REQUIRED
Knowledge of practice area and familiarity with legal terminology and procedures. Strong word processing skills, including efficient use of Microsoft Styles. Proficient basic Excel skills to enter and manipulate data and insertion and use of simple formulas. Proficient transcription skills from digital dictation. Ability to proficiently produce documents with firm templates. Strong organizational skills and administrative skills. Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and outside contacts. Ability to handle a large volume of detailed work with accuracy. Ability to work within a team environment and work well under pressure, especially with court deadlines. Prepare correspondence, documents, and agreements, including document comparisons and conversions, manipulation of pdf documents, proofreading, formatting, editing, and scanning. Job duties may require time over 37.50 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High school graduate or GED equivalent. Background in Microsoft Suite. Organize and prioritize work and follow through with assignments to completion. Excellent grammar and proofreading skills, including impeccable attention to detail and accuracy. Professional demeanor and strong work ethic, including dependability and accountability. Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to proactively identify issues and implement practical solutions. Superior attention to detail. A solution-oriented mindset to routinely deliver high-quality results. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proper grammar and document preparation. Proven capacity to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Positive attitude with a collaborative team approach. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
At least two years of business litigation legal assistant experience in a law firm preferred. Experience in a legal office. Experience in providing administrative support functions.
Experience with the following software:
iManage, InTapp, and iTimekeep.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires use of office equipment, such as computer terminals, fax machines, telephones and copiers. Requires lifting of up to 20 pounds. May require occasional overtime to accomplish tasks.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Winthrop is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role and the specific offer will be determined based on a candidate's relevant knowledge, and alignment with the responsibilities of the position, as follows: Candidates who are newer to this type of role or building foundational expertise can expect an offer in the $48,000
  • 66,000 range. Candidates with growing proficiency and a solid track record in similar roles may be considered in the $56,000
  • 75,000 range. Those with advanced, specialized knowledge or a history of leading complex work in this area may fall within the $67,500
  • 80,000 range.
Candidates with extensive, strategic-level experience or who bring deep subject matter expertise may be paid up to $91,000. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Winthrop & Weinstine reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
