Job Description

Ward and Smith, P.A. is a growing full-service law firm with multiple offices throughout the Carolinas. We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our Asheville , Greenville , New Bern , Raleigh , or Wilmington office . The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic; exceptional time management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; excellent client communications and service; superb technology skills, including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite, PDF, E-Discovery, and general online research; and meticulous attention to detail with strong proofreading skills. The paralegal must be able to work independently, collaborating with team members as needed. A minimum of three to five years' litigation experience is required. Experience in South Carolina Law and Appellate practice is a plus but not required. The role of the Litigation Paralegal includes, but is not limited to, assisting the attorneys in the acceptance, organization, investigation and resolution of litigation matters; drafting court documents including complaints, answers, motions, correspondence and memos; drafting interrogatories and other discovery as well as complex pleadings, conferring with all parties involved; docketing; keeping schedules; maintaining files; monitoring progress; and following up to ensure all required actions are completed. A degree in Paralegal Technology is preferred but not required. Experience may substitute for education. Must have a North Carolina Notary Public commission or the ability to obtain same.
