Job Description

Position Overview:
The paralegal plays a critical role in supporting the firm's attorneys by overseeing the administrative and procedural aspects of criminal defense cases. This position serves as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring they remain informed and engaged throughout their legal proceedings. Paralegal must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple cases at various stages of litigation. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the main liaison between attorneys, clients, courts, and other involved parties. Maintain regular client contact to provide case updates, answer questions, and manage expectations. Ensure all client records and case files are up to date in the firm's case management system. Court & Document Coordination Track case deadlines, court dates, and filing requirements to ensure timely submissions. Prepare and file necessary legal documents, motions, and discovery requests under attorney supervision. Organize and maintain case files, including evidence, correspondence, and legal research. Attorney Support Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and client meetings. Obtain and review police reports, court documents, and other discovery materials. Coordinate scheduling for court appearances, depositions, and client consultations. Administrative Duties Maintain an accurate case calendar and ensure attorneys are informed of important deadlines. Draft correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. Assist with billing, fee agreements, and payment tracking.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in case management, paralegal work, or a related legal support role, preferably in criminal defense. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in legal case management software (e.g., Lawmatics, Clio, MyCase). Understanding of the criminal justice process and court procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive client matters.
