Job Description

About us We are a well-established criminal defense law firm committed to providing legal representation and personalized client service. We are seeking a highly organized, dependable, and professional Legal Assistant to support our attorneys in a fast-paced practice. This position is ideal for someone with strong administrative experience who is interested in building a long-term career in the legal field. Previous experience in a law office is preferred, but candidates with relevant professional office experience and the ability to learn quickly are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact for clients by phone, email, and in person. Schedule client consultations, court appearances, and attorney meetings. Draft, proofread, and prepare legal correspondence and other documents. Maintain electronic and physical client files with a high level of accuracy. Coordinate with courts, prosecutors' offices, law enforcement agencies, and other legal professionals. Monitor attorney calendars and ensure court deadlines and appointments are met. Assist attorneys with case preparation, discovery organization, and trial preparation. File legal documents electronically and maintain accurate case records. Perform general administrative duties to support the daily operation of the office. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of professional administrative, legal assistant, or office experience required. Law firm experience is preferred but not required. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel). Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work. Professional appearance, reliability, and a positive attitude. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a law office or legal environment. Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, or case management software.
