Job Description
Watson & Carroll, P.C., L.L.O., is seeking an experienced plaintiff-side medical malpractice litigation paralegal to join our trial practice in Omaha. This is a full-time, in-office position. The role will support cases in both Nebraska and South Dakota, so experience in one or both jurisdictions is required. This is not an entry-level or administrative role. We are looking for someone who understands how a case is built from intake through trial and who can take ownership of their files while working directly with trial counsel. Responsibilities Manage case files from filing through resolution across Nebraska and South Dakota 1. Collect, organize, and analyze medical records and billing 2. Prepare detailed medical chronologies and identify key issues in causation and damages 3. Draft discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission 4. Coordinate with expert witnesses and prepare materials for expert review and disclosure 5. Assist with depositions, including scheduling, preparation, and summarizing testimony 6. Prepare cases for mediation and trial, including exhibits, witness coordination, and trial notebooks 7. Track deadlines and ensure compliance with Nebraska and South Dakota procedural rules 8. Assist with settlement documentation, subrogation and other liens, and case closing Qualifications 1. Minimum of three years of plaintiff personal injury or medical malpractice litigation experience required 2. Experience handling cases in Nebraska and/or South Dakota required 3. Strong working knowledge of civil litigation process from filing through trial 4. Experience with ordering medical and billing records, handling subrogation matters 5. Experience drafting discovery and working with expert witnesses 6. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple complex cases 7. Strong written and verbal communication skills 8. Proficiency with case management systems and Microsoft Office Compensation and Benefits 1. Competitive salary based on experience 2. 401K 3. PTO 4. This position is intended for a litigation paralegal who is comfortable working in a fast-paced plaintiff practice and who takes pride in building cases the right way. Pay:
