Job Summary
MUST SPEAK ENGLISH & SPANISH FLUENTLY LOMA
is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the use of Clio, know how to file Municipal Court cases electronically through JEDS, and knowledge of myUSCIS Account for Attorneys and ECAS for immigration law matters before the Immigration Court and eService with DHS. Knowledge of NVC matters and the CEAC portal would be helpful too. The ideal candidate will know how to legally analyze a municipal court or immigration case, track cases with USCIS and NVC, review forms with Clients, follow up with clients for documents, set reminders and follow through with administrative maintenance of all files. Candidate should already have experience in filing applications for family petitions, hardship waivers, consular processing and uploading documents. This role requires exceptional legal research abilities, proficiency in legal administrative tasks, and a commitment to supporting Attorney Alcalde in delivering high-quality legal services. The candidate must be able to work independently, will play a crucial role in managing case files, conduct legal analysis, and ensure compliance with legal procedures. Duties Skill and Knowledge in Clio Manage and Clio Grow. Provide intakes, receipts and maintain records in Client Files of retainer balances. Conduct comprehensive legal analysis to support case preparation and strategy. Review and manage Client Files to ensure accuracy of all supporting documents for a successful submission to USCIS. Assist Attorney Alcalde in downsizing her Immigration Court practice by communicating with current clients and following up via emails and letters, as well as scheduling final appointments. Completing final submissions to the Immigration Court is a crucial part of this position. Drafting Motions to the Immigration Court is also vital to this role. Organizing all forms, exhibits, and evidence for packages to be filed with DHS and the Immigration Court via ECAS. Maintain meticulous case files for Municipal Court matters, including engagement letters, notices of representation, follow up for discovery (paper and vide) with Police Departments and State Trooper's Office, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accessible. Communicate effectively with clients and third parties while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette; politeness, accountability and maintaining composure. Provide clerical support including scheduling appointments, managing correspondence, and maintaining the LOMA and Attorney Alcalde's calendar. Collaborate with legal team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks; keep desk and area tidy and neat. Experience Proven, two-year experience at least, as an immigration legal assistant / paralegal or in a similar role within a law firm that handles Municipal Court and Immigration matters. Strong knowledge of Municipal Court and Immigration law procedures and forms to be used. Proficient in utilizing various USCIS portals, such as CEAC, "myUSCIS account", and eService / ECAS when needed. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail in English and Spanish. Familiarity with administrative processes and procedures with USCIS in the filing of all forms for adjustment of status, waivers, renewal of green cards and naturalization.
